I was part of the founding team for Workplace by Facebook. When joined, it was called “Facebook at Work” — the one thing most employers literally don’t want! We had <100k month actives.
When I left the team in December 2018, it was being used by Walmart, Starbucks, McDonalds, GSK, AstraZeneca, and 30,000 other organisations around the world, and a went on to hit 7m paying subscribers.
In this talk from WebSummit in Lisbon in November 2017, I talk about our thesis about how the demographics of the workplace are changing, what that means for how companies and their employees, and how Workplace is setup to fit that world because, spoiler alert, it’s how people have been communicating on web and mobile for the last 10 years.
